Vitamins back in stock
The good news is that Health Start Vitamins are back in stock, the not so good news is we can now only provide them for children over 6 months of age (previously we were also able to give them to younger babies).
NHS advice is that all babies and children from 4 weeks up until the age of five should have a vitamin supplement. If you have a younger baby make sure you purchase one that states it is suitable for children under 12 months and remember to come back to the children’s centre for free Healthy Start Vitamins once your child is 6 months old. If you are claiming benefits and this is a barrier to you buying vitamins for your baby talk to an outreach worker at the Children’s Centre.
If your baby is having at least 500ml of formula milk vitamin supplements aren’t necessary.
Vitamins for pregnant and breastfeeding mums are still free.
